A Dream Realized
Owner and Head Coach Jared Gahm began teaching Jiu-Jitsu classes over three years ago, initially renting space in other gyms. His dream of establishing a dedicated home for Pedigo Submission Fighting (PSF) became a reality much sooner than he anticipated. “I thought it would take a decade to open my own gym,” Gahm shared. “But that dream has come quicker than I imagined.”
The opening of PSF Bloomington has been a surreal experience for Gahm, who expressed his gratitude and humility in achieving this milestone. While he may not have competed in the UFC or won world championships, he is committed to empowering his students to reach their own potential through effective coaching.
A Welcoming Community for All Ages
At PSF Bloomington, we believe that Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone, regardless of age or experience level. Our gym welcomes participants from ages 13 to 56, fostering an inclusive environment where individuals can train hard, have fun, and build meaningful relationships. “It doesn’t matter what age you are. Anyone is welcome to come,” said Gahm.
With our membership growing from nine initial students to 75 in just a short time, the community’s enthusiasm for Jiu-Jitsu is evident. Students like Graham Haley, a local law enforcement officer, emphasize the practical benefits of training. “I wanted something to be confident in during an altercation. There’s no season in Jiu-Jitsu; you have to constantly find something that motivates you,” he noted.
Another dedicated member, Adetunji Jones, has not missed a practice in the two and a half years he’s been with us. “I love it. It’s a great experience that helps people grow and step out of their comfort zones,” he shared.
Beyond Jiu-Jitsu: Mentorship and Growth
Jared Gahm is not only a coach but also a mentor and big brother figure to his students. He emphasizes the importance of balancing academics and athletics, encouraging college students to prioritize their classes before training. “I have a lot of high school athletes who are not allowed to quit their high school sports for this,” Gahm said, illustrating his commitment to the holistic development of his students.
